Over 60,000 Canines Receive Anti-Rabies Shots, Corporation Targets 2 Lakh
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has reported significant progress in its ongoing anti-rabies vaccination campaign for stray dogs across the city. As part of this crucial public health initiative, more than 60,000 street dogs have already received their anti-rabies inoculations.
The civic body has set an ambitious target to vaccinate a total of 2 lakh (200,000) stray dogs. This extensive drive is a key component of the GCC’s efforts to control the spread of rabies and enhance community safety for residents.
Teams are actively engaged in various zones, focusing on the humane capture, vaccination, and release of these animals. The programme aims to ensure comprehensive coverage, contributing to a healthier urban environment for both the city’s human population and its street dog population.
