DMK Legislators Removed From Assembly Amidst Vijay Remarks Row

Proceedings disrupted after heated exchanges concerning actor’s recent statements.

Chennai’s legislative assembly witnessed significant disruption today as several Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party were ordered to be removed from the house. The action followed a contentious debate that erupted over recent statements attributed to popular actor Vijay.

The session, which commenced with its scheduled agenda, quickly escalated into a heated exchange when the issue of the actor’s remarks was brought up for discussion. DMK legislators reportedly engaged in vocal protests and demonstrations, leading to an impasse in the legislative business and calls for order from the Speaker.

Despite repeated warnings from the presiding officer to maintain decorum and allow proceedings to continue, the protesting MLAs reportedly persisted in their agitation. This ultimately led to the decision by the Speaker to order their removal from the assembly hall, a measure taken to restore order and enable the house to resume its scheduled legislative work.

The incident highlights the intense political discourse surrounding comments made by public figures and their potential to ignite debates within legislative bodies. The assembly later continued its proceedings, albeit after a period of considerable commotion.
