Kosapet Streets Adorned with Diverse Ganesha Idols Ahead of Festival

A wide array of statues, ranging from one to nine feet, are on display, sourced from Cuddalore and Tirupati.

The vibrant streets of Kosapet have transformed into a festive hub, showcasing an impressive collection of Ganesha idols as the Vinayagar Chathurthi celebrations draw near. Shoppers and devotees are greeted by a visual feast of the elephant-headed deity in various hues, postures, and sizes, reflecting the rich artistic traditions of the region.

These intricately crafted idols cater to a broad spectrum of preferences, with heights spanning from a modest one foot to a grand nine feet. The pricing for these devotional figures also varies significantly, starting from approximately ₹3,000 for smaller pieces and reaching up to ₹40,000 for the more elaborate and larger installations.

A substantial number of these Ganesha statues, popular among Chennai’s residents, are procured from skilled artisans in nearby towns. Key suppliers include craftsmen from Cuddalore and Tirupati, renowned for their expertise in idol making, contributing to the festive atmosphere building up across the city.
