HR&CE Minister Suggests Waiving Temple Phone Deposit

Devotees may soon be exempt from the ₹5 fee for mobile phone safekeeping at state-managed temples.

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister has indicated that the ₹5 deposit currently levied for the safekeeping of mobile phones at temples could be waived. This announcement suggests a potential relief for devotees visiting various temples across the state, particularly those under the HR&CE department’s purview.

Currently, visitors are often required to deposit their mobile phones at designated counters before entering certain temple premises, with a nominal fee charged for the service. The Minister’s statement opens the possibility for these charges to be removed, aiming to enhance the convenience for worshippers.

Further details regarding the implementation of this waiver across specific temples are awaited from the department.
